Years ago, I loved playing Gardenscapes, when it was a hidden object game, and not the boring candy crush style game it is now. So I was pleased to find this game, and really enjoyed it for the first few days - it seemed just what I needed to wind down and relax for a wee while each day. Unfortunately it quickly increases in difficulty until there is no relaxation value left - where the early games gave 2 mins to clear a reasonable amount of items, it’s now a constant stream of ‘hard’ and ‘super hard’ games which are so difficult that there is no pleasure left in playing. One minute is nowhere near enough time to clear numerous items, especially when they are often obscurely placed, covered in swathes of cloud, or barely discernible silhouettes. It’s painfully clear that the developers want you to spend regular amounts of money on the tools needed to pass these games. I have twice paid the £2.99 for 5000 coins, but when one use of a tool can cost 1300 coins, it’s easy to see how this game could cost you a ridiculous amount of money to play regularly. I’m all for paying for developers’ work, but not to an unfair and greedy level. Most people play these games as a way to relax, and making it so deeply frustrating and annoying to play is not a great way to keep people’s custom. I’d pay out a few quid a month for a hidden object game with an option for no timer and interesting scenes - I want to challenge and exercise my brain, not raise my blood pressure on stupidly hard games. I’ve read the developer’s replies to other reviews, saying all the games are possible without paying. I’m sure that’s true, but you’re missing the point - it’s supposed to be enjoyable playing the game, not a frustrating slog!
