Finding 500px 100% over Instagram. I was constantly bombarded with adverts, people following me to follow them back and then unfollowing, direct messages asking me if I wanted to buy anything from 1000 to 10,000 likes and followers for a cost. I’m not looking for followers I’m just enjoying posting and a few people coming back with genuine comments. Only complaint I have is when you go onto somebody’s posted picture and the app seems quite slow when you want to like the photo, I am assuming this is because people are uploading in the high resolution as it doesn’t happen on every photo.

Some time ago I 'deleted my account forever' but was able to log in again (thought I'd start anew but my details were still there...) Anyway I tried again and it's the same story as before; lookalike recommendations and stale content. Clunky and difficult to use in the app. Now there appears to be no way to delete an account at all. Logging in and trying to do it from the website takes you to the app where it says 'a server-side error occurred.' So it's impossible to delete an account. No matter, I've deleted the app anyway.Original review below:Lots of content, but:1. Every time here is an update I have to sign back in to the app. No other app I own does this and I have fed back on it before.2. Recommended photos - there are an increasing amount of these. Fair enough. But should I favourite one of them, or look into the profile of the photographer, when I go back to my feed it inserts another selection of recommended photos and puts me right back at top of my feed. This means that unless I ignore the recommended photos I never get through my feed. Or I get so tired of going back to the top I give up. This defeats the purpose of the app and recommended photos.3. Also 'photography' that is basically CGI from Photoshop masters. Lots of that. Boring, in my humble opinion, and not really photography.

Impossible to get any engagement with photos these days. Where nearly every photo I posted would get a pulse in the high 80’s, I’m lucky if I even reach upcoming now. Ironically, it’s since I actually started paying for pro around 18 months ago that I lost all exposure. In that time I’ve even had two photos featured in blog 500px blog posts through licencing and even they didn’t make it to upcoming when I originally posted them. On another note, their AI is an absolute shower of ****. The number of photos it rejects for utterly incorrect reasons is beyond infuriating. They are always accepted by competitor sites but it’s ridiculous needing to use other providers because of a very sub standard system. Hopefully they will fix their algorithm and get back to actual humans reviewing licencing photos.

It's good but it is not as good as the previous version. There are things I like - the galleries and a simpler like/fave which removes confusion. But to be honest you have to make too many taps on the screen to get details of the photos and it's not as intuitive as the original app which I still miss.Edit: the latest version is terrible. Why am I seeing content uploaded weeks ago in the upcoming category? Never used to. And they have changed the algorithm meaning you need far more likes to get a pulse over 90. The changes have spoiled my enjoyment of both app and website so what was a 4* rating is now 2*. Beginning to wonder if it is really worth the money u pay to belong to a website that looks more like Flickr as time goes on.
