Signal - Private Messenger
Say “hello” to privacy.
Free · In-App Purchases
Signal is a messaging app with privacy at its core. It is free and easy to use, with strong end-to-end encryption that keeps your communication completely private.
• Send texts, voice messages, photos, videos, GIFs, and files for free. Signal uses your phone’s data connection, so you avoid SMS and MMS fees.
• Call your friends with crystal-clear encrypted voice and video calls. Group calls supported for up to 50 people.
• Stay connected with group chats up to 1,000 people. Control who can post and manage group members with admin permission settings.
• Share image, text, and video Stories that disappear after 24 hours. Privacy settings keep you in charge of exactly who can see each Story.
• Signal is built for your privacy. We know nothing about you or who you’re talking to. Our open source Signal Protocol means that we can’t read your messages or listen to your calls. Neither can anyone else. No back doors, no data collection, no compromises.
• Signal is independent and not for profit; a different kind of tech from a different kind of organization. As a 501c3 nonprofit we are supported by your donations, not by advertisers or investors.

• We added convenient shortcuts to open chats or view profile details during group calls. Now you can long-press on any call participant and press them to say something (or tell them you're impressed with the point they just made).
• This update also includes several VoiceOver accessibility improvements, particularly for quoted replies.

• Now you can optionally add a member label to describe yourself or your role in a group chat. Set your group member label to “Referee” or “Goalie” in your local rec league soccer chat to help kick things off when new teammates join, then choose a different label with your job title in the company chat. Member labels appear next to your profile name in that group, and group admins can control whether or not they are enabled for everyone.

• We fixed a bug with the emoji selection sheet background color during voice and video calls. Now you don't need to search for the rage emoji when a bright background appears during a dark-themed (or thematically mysterious) group call.
• We also updated and improved the text that appears in various second-person and third-person story reply scenarios. If you can't remember what "second person" looks like, this sentence is your latest example.

• Signal polls are here! Are you and your friends on the same page, or are you poll-ar opposites? Polls are an easy way to see what your group chat really thinks. Create a poll with competing dinner options, vacation destinations, musical preferences for an upcoming road trip, or any other important choices. Everyone in the group can vote and see each other's responses, and you can decide whether or not to allow multiple votes.
• This update also includes the first wave of the Liquid Glass redesign for iOS 26 and iPadOS 26 with refined animations and new visual elements. Future releases will have even more improvements, but if you're thirsty for a new look then this Liquid Glass should already be pretty refreshing.
