“Kiddo, teach me how to play this... ”
Technology advances at a breakneck pace and it can be hard to keep up if you’re not constantly staying abreast of the latest news. So it’s no wonder that some of our parents might feel a bit left behind, even though they would love to enjoy all the amazing content that’s on offer through their devices. Let us help you help your mum and dad fight that #FOMO.
Ditch the telly
Say goodbye to that VHS recorder: you don’t need to remember to record your favourite shows anymore. Pop onto a streaming app and watch it your way whenever you want, not at the behest of the broadcaster’s schedule. And this is not a young person’s game: thanks to today’s plethora of streaming apps, there’s always something good on, from cooking shows to slapstick comedy.
Ditch the paper
Newspaper crosswords? Sudoku books? They’re so limited. But there’s an amazing array of entertaining puzzle games awaiting you on the App Store. And if you’re cancelling your subscription to the physical paper, don’t fret about where to find the news: there are plenty of apps to keep you in step with the daily happenings from around the globe. And if reading is getting tougher, remember that you can enlarge the system font on your iOS device: go to Settings > Display & Brightness.
Ditch those tellers
You can cut down drastically on trips to the bank if you want to do some saving. Whether it’s for your retirement, for your kids or simply to transfer money when you need to pay the bills – apps make managing your money from home easy.
Forget me not: password
Cybersecurity is an essential topic that everyone should keep on top of. Instead of writing down strong passwords, use a manager so you can easily fill them in after a verification using Touch ID or Face ID.
