For a year I was using notability but with notability I could really do much with my notes as I found the features to be rather boring so I decided to switch things up this year with a new app and a new note taking method that where I discovered good notes 5 and decided to give it ago and I can say with this app you can do so much more I love the notebook lay out it really gives you that writing on paper feel !! I feel with this app you can customise your notes to suite ur needs and the way ur Brain retains information this app has saved me so much time and effort with having my notes and worksheets in place and can I say the flash card feature has really helped me ! I was going to use quizlet before but NO ! good notes has saved me money on that too. I would high recommend this app I personally prefer it over notability it has really allowed me to be creative and structure my notes the correct way and I have noticed I’m understanding the material better ! Guys just have a play around with the features it seems like a lot to take in at first but once you get the hang out it it’s truely amazing !! Love this app !
I wish I had this when I completed my first degree

I needed a new laptop for my masters, but decided to get an iPad with a keyboard for reading textbooks on the go. With Goodnotes, you can pull all your textbooks and research articles in, highlight and annotate, copy, paste, multiscreen to take notes as you read, and lots of other things. Even little things like being able to bookmark pages is helpful. The best thing though, is that it recognises the words you are writing as text, can correct spelling in your own handwriting, and you can then search your 100+ pages of notes for specific words you have written. The AI can also generate test questions on your notes. It could be improved if it had a read aloud option like Perlego so I can listen and read at the same time. There is a way around it by highlighting text and then selecting read aloud, but sometimes formatting gets in the way, and you can’t change the speed etc. Also, when you plug an external screen in, it won’t let you see seperate things on either screen, the app decides to take over both screens, kind of defeating the purpose. Further, the option to create a space beside an article in one tab would allow more space for notes attached to the article, rather than two seperate documents, if that makes sense. Overall, I’d recommend an iPad and Goodnotes to most people who do lots of reading and writing and can’t carry thousands of pages of notebooks and textbooks with you!
great app for students, but some big glitches

I love Goodnotes and have used it for around a year now, the organisation of notebooks, the pen settings, the colours and page templates are all really good. My only issues are: 1. often I have this glitch in which when I lasso some of my writing (handwriting with the pen), when I move it to another place, one letter/stroke will duplicate, having one in the previous position and one in the place that I moved it to. If I try to erase the one in the previous position, it doesn’t erase, and if I try to erase the one in the new position it erases but the one in the previous position doesn’t. When the glitch first started occurring, if I closed the notebook and wait for it to sync, and then reopen it, the stroke/letter in the previous position would have disappeared (unless I wrote over it), however now even after waiting for the notebook to sync, the previous one is still there and erasing it does nothing. Recently it isn’t just one stroke that is duplicating, it is a whole diagram I have drawn or a paragraph, which is quite annoying. 2. Sometimes when I try to erase something it will erase for a second and then reappear, and I can’t erase it no matter what I do (lassoing and then clicking the bin doesn’t work either). This is similar to the other glitch however this occurs without me moving it or it duplicating itself. If these glitches could be fixed that would be great! They have caused me lots of issues and taken up lots of my class time trying to get my notes to work. Regardless of the issues, I would definitely recommend Goodnotes to friends as it is a great handwriting digital note taking app :)
