HOW IT WORKS
Most aircraft today are equipped with ADS-B transponders that transmit positional data. Flightradar24 has a rapidly growing network of 50,000 ground stations around the world to receive this data that then shows up as aircraft moving on a map in the app. In an expanding number of regions, with the help of multilateration (MLAT), we’re able to calculate the positions of aircraft that don’t have ADS-B transponders.

This app in my books is one of the best apps out there. I’ve been using FR24 for over ten years. It’s amazing watching family going long haul in real time AU to UK watching the flight throughout the day, then going to bed and getting up many hours later to see that the poor sods are still up there in the air, oh the joys of long haul! Plus FR24 is a great tool for picking my wife up at Coffs Airport when she’s coming home from meetings in Sydney, I know now that when I see her plane on FR24 is passing over Newcastle NSW it is time for me to start driving to the Airport and we normally both land there at the same time, but I have been overtaken by her plane when I’m on the Pacific Highway a couple of times! FR24 is a great app but I really miss being able to watch it on my iMac computers big screen at home, please make FR24 viewable on Mac computers again.

This app has become one of my favourite platforms, I get to see when planes are leaving from Sydney and going to Johannesburg in Africa or Hawaii where my ex lives so I can send him screenshots since we’re friends. The 3D viewer option is absolutely MIND blowing as well, I once stayed up till 3AM to watch a flight land in Johannesburg land in the 3D mode, so worth it. You do need to watch an ad to get 3D Mode which is the only downside but it gives you three turns from one ad so that makes up for it. Highly recommend it, even if you aren’t a plane fanatic or a travel fanatic. 🫶🏼
Why do I have to put up with an exclamation mark on my old paid up version

This used to be the best flight tracking app available. I loved it, bought the paid version and in-app purchases. I am very satisfied how this original app works and do not need the bells and whistles of the new version. I am ‘mature-age’ and simply cannot afford annual subscriptions for the new version. And indeed, do not agree with this system of purchase. And as the free-version has adverts I will not use it. I now find my original paid version has an exclamation mark, which I cannot remove, in the top right corner. I KNOW of the new version. I do NOT need to have it rammed down my throat! Please, how can I get rid of this unwanted alert on a version I have PAID for? I have searched in vain for a way of contacting you direct but all I get is re-direction to my app! Please, remove this unwanted intrusion. I have now lowered my rating of the app owing to this.

Last update caused huge issues

I have updated the app with the last update on 10th April and now it's not showing planes that I can clearly see or hear flying over and seems to have other issues like there's a delay as if it's stopped tracking and the screen is jigging! Previous to this update it was working perfectly what have you done to it? I live very close to a regional airport and are under the flight path of commercial flights both domestic & international I used to be able to watch them and track with ease now it's really bad and pretty useless! Can you please fix this and get the app back to what it was. And if this is a ploy to get people to pay for the premium version forget it I'm not! Funny just after I updated the app I got a couple of things come up asking to join up to premium now it doesn't want to work that's pretty bad!
