Terrible customer service - zero help

We booker an Airbnb in Melbourne over New Year’s Eve 4 days before the 31st. We couldn’t find the information on how to get into the house upon arrival or contacted the host so we contacted Airbnb to get some help and guidance on what to do the day before. I spent almost an hour on the phone with someone very unprofessional (screaming at her kids in another language during the conversation) eventually, she told us she would ask a specialist to call us back to get some help. No one called us back …. On the 31st we showed up at the place and the host wasn’t here to welcome us, we have tried to contact them over email phone msg and call but nothing. After struggling for hours on trying to find a solution, We ended up sleeping in the street that night as everywhere else was booked out and as we didn’t have any news from Airbnb customer service…. On the 1st of January, I’ve called Airbnb customer service again to explain our situation and ask to be reimbursed after having a terrible experience with them and the person told me a specialist would call us back to help and added priorities on our case. It’s been 2 days and guess what? No call, no email… we are really wondering if we they are really going to get back to us and reimburse us for their terrible service … I have been using Airbnb over a few years and had never had any problem until now. But I definitely think this one will be the last if they are not doing anything to cover their very unprofessional customer service …..

Hosting since 2018 and just recently the app functionality, bookings and support have fallen off the cliff. My listing doesn’t always come up on the map when it is available. If you keep tapping the screen it refreshes, a whole lot of listings briefly pop up then disappear. Even with filters off. We were previously sold out, until about May. Not anymore. Support is still there and the support staff genuinely trying to help but they must be run off their feet as it takes 24 hours to get a reply to a message. Took 4 days to get an issue sorted. Previously it would have been 24 hours.My other gripe is that Airbnb used to be dominated by home stay listings and travellers chose it for that reason. Now it’s all commercial landlords and hotels, hosts with multiple listings. Reviews are not trustworthy because many ‘hosts’ never meet the guests or see/clean the listing so you get weird, inconsiderate, untidy guests with 5 star reviews.Please fix the app so all available listings appear every time… and spend more on support and testing instead of focusing on growing the number of listings. You are killing our business.Sydney renters, I agree more needs to be done. It’s one thing renting out the granny flat on Airbnb like we do. It’s not suited to long term rental and often used by our family but it’s another thing seeing loads of apartments in the inner city literally bought and fitted out out the purpose of listing. The 180 day rule doesn’t seem to have any effect. Re taxes, any host who isn’t already reporting their income to ATO, soon will be, as ATO is getting data from Airbnb.

Airbnb and their host have pretty much stolen money from myself. I have paid a bond as requested by the host and Airbnb support & resolution team have been tossing me left and right for more than a month with no result. Airbnb excuse is that the host is not responding so they can not get my bond off them. I had no issues with the host I even left a good review and they did the same so I see no reason by I have not received my $199 bond back. I can only imagine how many people Airbnb and their host have allowed this sort of issues happen to, I pretty much paid double for the apartment I booked. All I got from Airbnb was no help I will be sure to take this further and involve the ombudsman if need be take some legal action because at this point it’s not about the money but about the service I have done nothing but cooperated and all I got in return was money stolen from me. This is disgusting they have wasted a whole month and a half of my life over this, I am so upset that Airbnb and their host are taking advantage of people like myself. This is honestly discrimination, theft in broad day light and it’s so hard to contact them. You end up giving up on getting ur money back but not me I will be sure to make this matter right. I hope someone from Airbnb will stand up and actually provide me with some help.
