5 tips for Rise of Kingdoms

Build a great society

The crown is finally yours – but that’s only the beginning. In the popular strategy game Rise of Kingdoms, you’ll learn how to rule and grow your empire with powerful, historical commanders by your side.

To help you on your way to success, here are a few royally useful tips and tricks:

Unlock the second building queue

Rome wasn’t built in a day, but who says you can’t do it in two? A second building queue will help your budding town quickly grow into a thriving metropolis. Complete missions and participate in events to acquire precious gems, then use them to upgrade your account to VIP Level 6 – you’ll unlock the queue and get some hefty resource production bonuses on the side.

Building up a metropolis quickly is key to a thriving kingdom.

Visit the Mysterious Merchant

Swapping a kingdom for a horse is probably not the best deal in history, but trading resources for speedups, Starlight Sculptures and Tomes of Knowledge? Worth it. Visit the Mysterious Merchant’s Boutique whenever she shows up at the Courier Station, so you can score some excellent deals and acquire valuable goodies for your empire.

Specialise your commanders

Get to know your commanders’ skillsets and you’ll have a much better idea of what talents and equipment you can give them to help fulfil their potential. For example, Caesar is a pro at leading the charge against armies and cities, while Cleopatra is a deft hand at resource gathering.

Imhotep is a mighty commander that gives powerful boosts to archers.

Master key technologies

In Rise of Kingdoms, knowledge is power: new technologies will increase your power rating and give your empire an immense boost. Economic technologies such as Masonry or Writing will increase your construction and research speed, critical to compounding your empire’s growth. To increase your combat prowess, try aiming for new troop tiers, especially Tier 4. That’s when your civilisation’s unique unit becomes available.

Make the most of your alliance

An alliance filled with active members is your best friend. You and your allies can help one another speed up construction and research, which in turn earns you credits to exchange for valuable items in the Alliance Shop. Resource gathering in alliance territory will also be 25 per cent faster, and you’ll get powerful boosts from alliance technologies and Holy Sites.
